frequently asked questions

What is your specialty?

I specialize in eating disorders, disordered eating and chronic dieting. I also have experience in Healthy Lifestyle Management and general nutrition counseling. In my scope of practice as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, I do not diagnose eating disorders nor do I prescribe medical advice. I do not offer or promote weight loss services, although am happy to discuss weight concerns from a Health at Every Size® framework.

Do you accept clients who do not have eating disorders?

Absolutely! Nutrition counseling provided through Humankind Nutrition, PLLC, is ideal for individuals who are interested in building a healthful, sustainable and kind relationship with food (regardless if an eating disorder has been diagnosed.)

Do you only accept clients who reside in Seattle?

No need to be a Seattleite! I am able to accept clients that reside in the state of Washington.

Do you see clients virtually?

Yep! At this time, I am seeing all clients virtually. If you reside in the state of Washington, I am happy to meet for nutrition sessions via a HIPAA compliant Telehealth service.

Do you accept insurance?

Humankind Nutrition, PLLC is credentialed with First Choice Health Network, Premera Blue Cross, LifeWise Health Plan, and Regence Blue Shield in the state of Washington.

Even if you have one of the above health insurance plans, we recommend that you contact your insurance provider to inquire about coverage specific to your plan prior to your Initial Nutrition Assessment.

If we are not in network with your insurance plan, it is possible that your insurance company will cover all or a portion of nutrition counseling. We recommend that you contact your insurance provider to inquire about coverage. We will provide a Superbill with a procedure code and diagnosis code for you to submit to your insurance company. Clients are responsible for all payments and fees that are not covered by insurance.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Humankind Nutrition accepts payment in the form of credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA accounts. You are responsible for payment in full before or at the start of your appointment. Please make payments payable to “Humankind Nutrition, PLLC”.

How do I schedule an appointment?

If you are a new client, I ask that you first contact me to schedule a free, 15-minute Discovery Call. If we decide that working together is a good fit, we will schedule an initial nutrition assessment and subsequent follow-up sessions via phone or email.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you are unable to attend a scheduled appointment, please call or email up to 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time. No-shows and appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged the full price of the session. If you arrive late to a scheduled appointment, the session will be shortened to end at the originally scheduled time.
